Dr. Ivo Robotnik is a literal genius, with five PhDs and an IQ that's "off the charts." With an ego to match, it can create a pretty dangerous combination. The man is a strange one indeed, and despite his incredible skills and impeccable track record he was generally a last choice when sent out on jobs for the government. Deemed a "psychological tire fire" by the very people who employed him at the time and were loath to utilize him, Robotnik is still a pioneer of revolutionary drone technology and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

Like any good (or bad) villain he's got himself an origin story: when a bully punched him in the face as a child it showed him just how cruel the world was. He determined he had no choice but to utilize his intelligence to be nothing but cruel in return in the face of a world that stood against him, and he's carried that through his life. He's rude, dismissive, and likes to lord his intellect over others at every chance he can get. If he gets the opportunity to insult someone, he'll certainly take it. He gets frustrated easily as well, often finding the need to yell at someone.

He vastly prefers the company of robots, referring to the ones he built as his babies, and treating them a hell of a lot better than he'd ever treat a person. He constantly talks about how much better they are. Robots, after all, don't have all the problems people do. Humans are largely too stupid for him, and he's certainly not afraid to tell them that. Constantly, even. His machines are everything to him.

While he's certainly not the most pleasant person to be around, it doesn't mean he can't have fun. He's particularly fond of music, and has a large collection of playlists to fit a number of moods. Sure, those moods might include "Heavy Metal Bombing Over Babylon" and "Soulful Chamber Music of Oppression," but they're moods. To go along with that, he likes dancing, and is happy to bust out a few moves while he's working. While he generally hates people, he can occasionally be something resembling nice to his assistant, Agent Stone. Even if that just means screaming at him about how much he loves his fancy lattes. He still keeps him around for a reason, after all, and somebody had to handle the Robotnik Manifesto while he was gone.

Despite his scientific (and assholish) nature he's incredibly eccentric and even playful, making robot noises or pretending a virtual t-rex has bitten his head off. He's loud, dramatic, poses a lot, and makes a lot of faces, as a character portrayed by Jim Carrey is wont to do. His insults often enter the realm of "very very silly" and he's not afraid to make a bad pun every now and again. But while he's silly, he can also be particularly threatening. He might seem like a cartoonish villain, but he has absolutely no issue with potentially causing property damage or injury or death (or "worse," according to him). He can be slapstick one moment and ready to have his robots shoot to kill the next. The time spent marooned alone on a distant planet didn't do his eccentricity any favors, either.

When there's something he wants, he can be very singleminded and obsessive, causing more logical solutions to fly out the window as he relentlessly tries to hunt down his prize. Take the first incident with Sonic: At first, he was just sent in for a job, and he was more interested in throwing his intellect around as he worked to stop the threat. As he found out just what he was after and how much power it had, he decided he needed it for himself, and that became his main focus over anything else. He'd stop at nothing to get that power, utilizing every resource he had to pursue it, whether it was a good idea or not. And after that whole fiasco, imagine having to basically do it all over again, just without government funding.

His obsession is what ultimately causes his downfall, and eventually he's defeated by the very creature he's been trying to stop (and the power of friendship). Twice! However, he's extremely persistent, and he won't let a little thing like losing stop him, even if everything he's worked for ends up destroyed and he finds himself marooned on a distant planet, or he loses his chance at ultimate power.

What did they do to end up here?: Take your pick! He's responsible for a number of war crimes, and then of course there's his relentless attempts at murdering innocent aliens in order to steal power. Plus he's just a jerk.

Powers / Abilities: He doesn't have any special powers without outside help, but he does have a ludicrously high IQ (which he, of course, lords over everyone else). He's also very skilled in machinery and robotics, and he can throw someone out of a window if necessary.

Let's be real. It doesn't matter what role I decide to take; in the end I'm going to be doing all the work anyway. And if somehow by some miracle I don't have to do all the work? The work won't be done well, and I still have to do it all. So we might as well just ignore all of that "role" crap and appoint me the leading leader in whatever the hell it is I'm being shoved into. It'll save a hell of a lot of people a hell of a lot of time and money, and it'll keep them from having to deal with me complaining about it. And trust me, I can complain. Loudly.

Frankly, I'd rather just work alone so nobody bothers me, but we all know how much people want to "foster cooperation" or whatever stupid new buzzphrases they're coming up with these days. Oh, I have the chance to anonymously send one letter? One single solitary letter? How generous of you. Listen, I have the opportunity to send as many letters as I feel like, right here, right now, right this very second. Hell, I'd rather just send them a nice, unpleasant email. Well, in that case I guess I'd have to congratulate myself on the new and exciting depths I've apparently sunken to. See, I'm not one for admiration of others. What's the point? Everyone's going to disappoint you somewhere down the line, so why bother? When it all comes down to it, I'm the only one who can get what I need done. I think I've already taken this particular track, actually. The part with the group project role? Stop making me repeat myself.

Anyway, since my machines aren't going to do anything I find reprehensible in the first place, the only other logical object of my admiration is their creator-- that's right, me. And if I happen to do anything reprehensible, well, it stands to reason that there was a point to it in the first place, absolving me of any and all wrongdoing. So it doesn't matter. There's no situation, there's nothing to deal with. Sure made that easy, huh? You should have me write the questions. I'd be out of here by now and working on something worthwhile. Waaaay better use of my time.

There's always going to be new goals popping up along the line, so that would depend on the exact meaning of the question. Is this a matter of achieving all of the goals I'll ever come up with in my life, or is it one of only achieving what I'm intending to achieve right this very second?

If it's the second one... then, well, I'll have a lot more work to get done around here. I still have a lot to accomplish at the moment, but once I've done all that, then it's back to the drawing board because, well, are you ever truly done in my line of work? Absolutely not. Meanwhile, if it's the first one, then things might end up a little on the boring side. Can't innovate when you've apparently already accomplished it all. And I know I just said you're never truly done, but in the event that I've finished every single goal I could ever possibly have, then there's just no place to go from there.

That's right. The answer to this question boils down to "working hard or hardly working." I know. I'm disappointed too.

Someone tells you all your flaws. What did they tell you, and are they right or wrong?

By "someone" do you mean "my bosses?" Because if I have to hear any of those morons try to give me the same old pointless performance review for the millionth time, I'm going to break down and create a death ray. They need me more than I need them. Anyway, I'm no stranger to unnecessary critique, and at this point I have a pretty extensive list of the various issues people have with me if they're brave enough to say something. Are they right? Maybe. Are they wrong? Maybe. Many things I consider the opposite of flaws end up being called flaws, and many things I consider flaws might inexplicably be desired by the rest of the populace. Things are funny that way.

As for how I feel about it? Easy: I don't care. Their opinions don't matter in the end. You know whose does? That's right. I can openly admit that my biggest flaw is being human, and I fully intend to take care of that particular glaring issue one of these days. Tell that to someone else, and they'll claim something about that not being a flaw, but that's how you can tell that nobody knows anything about anything.

Welcome to Robotnik Industries. Not that the building itself is any kind of welcoming. For what essentially boils down to an advanced sex shop, the facade is particularly... oppressive. No windows, no advertisements, "Robotnik Industries" in ominous glowing letters the only indication of what it is.
